What prolonged exposure to high heat will do is soften the resin, whereas you could take your fingernail and make an indentation in the coating. It's also very important that the resin be mixed accurately and cured fully to achieve maximum heat resistance in the cured casting. When pouring very small amounts, it is critical to measure accurately as small differences can be a large percentage difference, which will affect the cure.
