How do you use Metallic powders?Updated 23 days ago
There are three ways to use metallic powders like the PolyColor Metallic Powders. (1) Brush it on you your silicone mold and cast your piece. When the resin flows into the mold, it will mechanically and chemically bond to the powder and you will demold a colored piece. (2) Mix it into your casting resin ... this works extremely well with clear resins and is not very effective for opaque resins as the color will be contained and hidden in the opaque casting. (3) Brush it on the surface of cooled soft plastic (plastisol) casting/lures. Then quickly pass a heat gun or torch over the surface to briefly remelt the surface of the plastisol to lock in the metallic powders. You can also mix colors into hot plastics like plastisol to create custom colors.
